Resident Evil : Retribution (2012)

Rating : Pointless, poor film. Not worth watching even for free.

Director : Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil, Death Race)

Cast : Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil series)

Story : Kicking off from right where it left in the previous movie, Resident Evil : Retribution begins with the boat Arcadia being attacked. Alice is captured by the Umbrella corporation and taken to their base, which serves as the main testing point of the T virus. This serves as the setting for Alice to fight zombies in different scenarios, come face to face with some old enemies and friends.

Review : I know a lot of people will raise eyebrows to this statement but I liked the Resident Evil series. Especially the first three parts. They were fun, entertaining, had cool action sequences and some fun characters. However after that the movies have been getting dumber. This one takes the cake though.

The earlier movies at least had a point (even if it was a flimsy storyline). There was a reason the events had taken place in the movie. The sole point of this movie seems to show people fighting zombies under different scenarios. This makes the movie seem more like one long video game.

The acting is typically wooden from everyone. Some of the dialogues are horrible. At times you feel like the director decided to make this movie as fodder for parody movies. Some of the action sequences start off nicely but then they are over far too quickly or become too fake.

Overall avoid this movie even if you are a fan of the franchise.

P.S. If ever caught in a zombie epidemic stay away from Milla Jovovich. No matter how good she is people around always end up dying.
