Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle (2004)

Rating : Better than a lot of other dumb, doped, oversexed movies... tamer too in comparison.

Director : Danny Leiner (Dude, where's my car?)

Cast : John Cho (Star Trek), Kal Penn (The Namesake)

Story : Harold and Kumar are two stoners, sort of losers who, one night, get the urging to have a White Castle burger. The quest for the burger leads them to have the night of their lives.

Review : There are a lot of movies on doped out guys, losers in every sense, in search for drugs , sex having a wild time. In fact majority of the movies in recent times have been too predictable in terms of plot relying more one gross out comedy, toilet humor, gratuitous nudity. Thus it feels good to visit this movie which was probably one of the movies to kick-start this trend.

Though, like i said, it is a lot tamer as compared to some of the movies in recent times, what works in its favour is the unpredictability. Despite the plot twists being completely absurd at times it still feels good to not be able to see whats coming. They might not be funny but they keep you engaged. Of course in between are some very funny moments .

There's not much to discuss in terms of acting as this not the sort of movie for it. However the bromance between Harold and Kumar is nice and there are some interesting  and funny cameos throughout the movie.

Overall a movie to watch with a group of friends. Just kick back, drink, smoke some joint (if possible) and of course keep some burgers handy.
