Transformers : Dark of the Moon (2011)

Rating : Decent in parts but very tedious to sit through the whole movie

Director : Michael Bay (Transformers series, Armageddon)

Cast : Shia LeBeouf (Transformers series, Disturbia), Rosie Hutington-Whiteley, John Turturro (Transformers series, Quiz Show)

Story : Autobots and Decepticons are pitted against each other once again after the discovery of a Cybertronic ship on the dark side of the moon. The cargo of the ship could prove decisive in winning the war.  Caught between this war are the humans, for whom the stakes are much higher this time as it involves the survival of earth.

Review: The first Transformers movie was awesome, the second was poor, the third installment tries to redeem the series but doesn't really help much. Though the movie is made on a much more epic scale with fabulous special effects, the story and the acting let it down.

To incorporate such an epic movie a lot of detailing has been done in the back story to build up to the climax. Unfortunately they spend over an hour doing that. Plus during that build up you have some very poor acting. John Malkovich is completely useless in his cameo. Shia is just too annoying and whiny. There comes a point when you feel like smacking him in the head to make him shut up.

When the action starts the movie gets better with some nice sequences. However even then there is major drawback, the absence of Optimus Prime. He is an imposing character whom we all love to see. However he is given very little to do. When he does it fight it is over far too quickly. Instead the focus is more on humans fighting Decepticons. That just doesn't have the same thrill factor to it.

Overall even if you miss this movie it wont be a major loss.
