Heroine (2012)

Review : Nothing new on offer. Give it a miss

Director : Madhur Bhandarkar (Fashion, Corporate, Page 3)

Cast : Kareena Kapoor (Jab We Met, 3 Idiots), Arjun Rampal (Rajneeti, Rock On), Randeep Hooda (Jism 2, Jannat 2)

Story : The life and times of a superstar Heroine. From the glitz and glamour to the ugly underbelly of Bollywood. The sleaze, lying, backstabbing etc

Review: Madhur Bhandarkar is back with another supposedly shocking movie, trying to expose the underbelly of Bollywood and show the life behind all the glamour. The problem with his movies is they are very superficial. They are just an amalgamation of incidents we've heard about or read in the papers. There is nothing shocking or hard hitting about his movies and they all pretty much seem the same.

If you've seen Page 3 or Corporate or Fashion this will seem like deja vu. With similar actors, dialogues, situations etc. Because of the superficial nature of his stories the characters remain one dimensional and hence the acting is nothing much to talk about. Women are either bitchy or easily manipulated by men (even though the female leads are supposed to be strong). Men are manipulative and exploitative.

Overall if you've seen one Madhur Bhandarkar movie you've seen them all.
