Ghost Rider : Spirit of Vengeance (2011)

Rating : Bad movie. Leave it unless you are a huge Ghost Rider or Nicolas Cage fan.

Director : Mark NeveldineBrian Taylor (Crank, Gamer)

Cast : Nicolas Cage (Ghost Rider, Lord of War), Ciaran Hinds (Munich, Race to Witch Mountain)

Story : Johnny Blaze is hiding out in Eastern Europe trying to figure out a way to control the Ghost Rider. Meanwhile nearby a young boy, prophesied to act as a vessel for the Devil (the most powerful one ever). It falls on Johnny to once again unleash the Rider to save the boy and send the Devil back to hell.

Review: Now I've not read any of the Ghost Rider comics but from what I've read about them this one tries to recreate the character similar to the one in comics. Thanks to that the Rider looks a lot more menacing in this part than the first one where he just looked cheesy. However other than that the movie fails miserably.

The directors have tried to show The Rider as psychotic, unpredictable, uncontrollable. But he just comes out as high on drugs. It seems as though the directors tried to go all out crazy like they did in Crank but then stopped midway. So you have a few scenes shot in similar fashion like Crank but then again it all seems halfhearted.

The acting all round is bad, which we've anyway come to expect from Nicholas Cage. The action sequences are not that great, the dialogues try to be funny at time but fall flat. Overall a pretty forgettable experience.

I would recommend to rather read the comic books instead of watching this.
