Red State (2011)

Review : Average Movie. Watch only if you have nothing better to do

Director : Kevin Smith (Dogma, Clerks 2)

Cast : Michael Angarano (The Forbidden Kingdom), John Goodman (The Flintstones), Michael Parks (Kill Bill, Planet Terror - The Sheriff Earl McGraw)

Story : Three friends (Michael Angarano and two other guys) visit a trailer at night after receiving an online invitation for sex. However the night takes a turn for the worse when they are captured by a religious cult of fanatic followers (Michael Parks the leader). Caught up in this is an FBI agent (John Goodman) with orders to bring down the cult.

Review: This started out as good movie but then just fails to take off on its premise. The director cannot create enough tension or conflict for you to really get involved.

Kevin Smith is more known for his comic movies and I think he should stick to it. After watching movies like Dogma and Clerks my expectations were higher from him. However this movie was a letdown. The acting from everyone is sincere though a bit cliched.

The only redeeming part about the movie is its quite small. But still watch only if you have absolutely nothing else to do
