Rating : 6 / 10
Director : Roel Reine (Nothing worth mentioning)
Cast : Luke Goss (Hellboy 2 - Prince Nuada), Sean Bean (LOTR - Boromir), Ving Rhames (Mission Impossible Series )
Story : Death Race 2 is a prequel to Death Race (Jason Statham). It deals with how the Death Race came into existence and the creation of the legacy of Frankenstein (the one who died in the first movie). Not much in terms of story as it is all about providing a reason to show fast cars, some gruesome killings, revenge and some push-up-bra-and-low-waist-jeans-wearing-cleavage-showing women.
Review : Now the first death race wasn't a masterpiece in itself so don't go expecting this direct-to-video prequel to be anything different. The acting is sincere at best, the story doesn't hold any major surprises nor is the direction anything extra-ordinary.
The action and racing sequences are gripping but Luke Goss cannot portray the same menacing look and attitude that Jason Statham has perfected after doing it in his every movie.
All in all only for those who are looking for some mindless action entertainment and liked the first Death Race
P.S. Am serious about the women.Would love to go to a prison if the female inmates look like the ones in the movie. Makes you wonder though why did all the sexy women in the future resort to crime and how did they all end up at the same prison
