Verdict : Fun, Entertaining and refreshingly original movie
Director: Krishna D.K., Raj Nidimoru (99, Shor in the City)
Cast : Saif Ali Khan ( Dil Chahta Hai, Agent Vinod) Kunal Khemu (Kalyug, Traffic Signal), Vir Das (Delhi Belly), Anand Tiwari (Udaan), Puja Gupta (F.A.L.T.U)
Story : Three friends attend a rave party off an island in Goa. Organized by the Russian mafia a new drug is circulated at the party with some horrifying side effects. All the party revelers become blood thirsty zombies. Now its up to the friends and their love interest to survive with the help of 'Boris'
Review: I have mentioned many times that I am a big fan of horror movies. Zombies are one of my favorite sub genres in this category. SO I was really excited to see this first Indian attempt at a ZomCom (Zombie Comedy)...and the movie did not disappoint.
Its funny, well adapted in an Indian context and most importantly original. There were no rip-offs from any other Zombie films (just a few references).Even in the make-up and VFX department, the creators did not try to cut any corners.
The high point of the movie is the bromance between the three friends and their interaction with the Delhi-born-Russian-mafioso Boris who loves to "keel dead people" The three lead actors will keep you smiling throughout and some scenes / dialogues will have you in splits. Puja Gupta is the eye candy but doesn't have much to do acting wise.
Overall worth a watch especially for fans of Zombies.
P.S. It is a sad state of affairs when the most realistic Hindi commercial film in some time is one on Zombies.
