Rating : Refreshing, Intelligent, tongue-in-cheek and overall a very entertaining horror movie.
Director : Drew Goddard (Writer for Alias, Buffy : The vampire Slayer, Cloverfield)
Cast : Kristen Connolly (The Bay), Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers), Fran Kranz (as Marty)
Story : Five teenagers go for a vacation to a lonely cabin in the mountain woods. Unknowingly they unleash a a bunch of blood thirsty zombies. Sounds predictable? Well things are not really that straightforward
Review : The true star of the movie is its screenplay. Writers Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon have paid homage and at the same time made fun a lot of Hollywood horror cliches and classics. Combining a very well thought out plot with some witty dialogues they have made a very entertaining movie.
This is not a scary horror movie, though it does have a few scenes which might make you jump or creep you out. It was never intended to be scary. What it is though is something very original and very interesting to watch.
The acting from everyone is very good. The 5 teenagers are stereotypical (purposely done). But the best interaction is between Richard Jenkins and Bradley Withford. As the two employees monitoring the situation they have a blast.
The ending is a true treat for horror fans with some very well costume design, make up and vfx.
Overall a good movie to watch but a must watch for all horror fans out there.
