Rating : Slightly predictable movie but worth a watch purely for the performances
Director : David O Russell (The Fighter, Three Kings)
Cast : Bradley Cooper (A Team, Limitless), Robert De Niro (Godfather 2, Analyze this), Jennifer Lawrence (Hunger Games, X-Men : First Class)
Story : Pat (Bradley Cooper) loses everything after he walks in on his wife having an affair. He snaps an almost kills his wife's lover. After spending 8 months in a mental institution he comes back to stay with his pare, tries regain his life and his wife. In steps Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) a mysterious girl who seems equally crazy. What happens when these two forces collide.
Review: This movie is a family drama, a love story and a sort of coming of age movie all rolled into one. Despite the complexities the director does a very good job of keeping a hold on things in tackling such varied emotions. At times though the movie is predictable, especially towards the end where it feels like a typical Hindi movie
The acting is one of the biggest reasons to watch this film.Bradley Cooper is fast establishing himself as a A list actor. This performance will no doubt help his credentials immensely. He gives a wonderful performance There is always a hint of craziness yet vulnerability visible in his eyes. He is well supported by Jennifer Lawrence. Watching her perfromance in X-men and Hunger Games I never thought of her to be capable of handling a role as complex as this one. After a long time its good to see Robert De Niro pick a character befitting his talents and he does complete justice to this.
The only downside is what was supposed to be one of the most exciting things for an Indian audience. The role of Anupam Kher. He delivers his lines as if he is giving a speech rather than acting. A Complete disappointment.
Overall a good movie worth a watch purely for the performances.
