Flawless (2007)

Rating : Decent little heist movie. Nothing great though

Director : Michael Radford (The Merchant of Venice, Il Postino : the Postman)

Cast : Michael Caine (Batman Series - Alfred, The Prestige), Demi Moore (Striptease, A Few Good Men)

Story : Set in London in 1960's, the movie is about Laura (Demi Moore). The sole female executive at a Diamond Corporation, she is fed up of the being a victim of the glass ceiling. She gets a chance to exact her revenge when the mild mannered janitor Mr Hobbs (Michael Caine) approaches her with a plan to rob some of the diamonds. However things are not what they seem and Laura might have gotten more than what she bargained for.

Review : As such there is nothing wrong with the movie. The direction is good, the acting is sincere. Lot of effort has been put in recreating the 60's era and it is done nicely. the suspense is also nice as right till the end you cannot figure out the mystery even if you have seen countless heist movies.

Despite all of this there is a spark lacking in the movie. Thus you never get fully engrossed in the movie. As an audience you are more content to let things unfold rather than get involved and try to figure things out yourself, which you would do in a lot of other heist movies.

Also there are far too many loopholes and lucky escapes in the actual heist to make it really believable or clever.

Overall a decent film but do not go out of your way to watch it.
