Rating : Must watch not just for lovers of Anime but anyone who appreciates good intelligent shows
Story : A brilliant high school student comes into possession of a Death Note - A Death God's notebook. Anyone's who's name is written in the Death Note will die. This leads the student on a crusade to rid the world of all evil and become God off a New World Order. Close on his heels is an equally brilliant but eccentric private detective hired to track him down. Who will win in this game of cat and mouse.
Review : I have only very recently become a fan of anime after starting Bleach. So i admit i do not know much about the history of Manga and anime. But what I do know is that Death Note is probably one of the best TV series I have be it anime or reality of sitcom.
One of the best things about anime is the story and character development. The story so well layered and the characters so beautifully developed that ti goes beyond a simple and cops and robbers type thriller into a more complex study of human beings. But nowhere does the series lose its grip on you. You end up rooting for the both the lead characters even though you know only one of them can survive.
Only downside is at times the thinking of both the lead characters is too smart to seem true but you can forgive that as they wanted to show two geniuses against each other.
Overall a definite watch for everyone
