Rating : VERY GOOD MOVIE!!! WORTH A WATCH
Director : Bennett Miller (Capote)
Cast : Brad Pitt (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Jonah Hill (Get him to the Greek, Superbad)
Story : The story revolves around a baseball club - The Oakland A's. The General Manager of the Oakland A's - Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) is handicapped by the limited budget at his disposal. He wants to win the Championship but unfortunately the A's have become a feeder club for richer clubs who can pay higher salaries. Looking to do something other than just replace his star players but still compete with the big clubs Billy hires Peter an economics graduate from Yale.Using Statistics as their main tool these two put together a team of rejects and start to defy the odds. Will they be able to win the Championship is the big question though.
Review : Hollywood has give us some wonderful underdog sport stories (Remember the Titans,Rocky etc). Moneyball is right up there with them. The different thing about Moneyball though is it doesn't focus on the game itself. But what goes on behind the scenes. The management aspect of the game.
Now this might seem like a boring concept but it is every bit as gripping as an actual game. You don't even realize that most of the baseball terminology goes over your head. The story and the direction are that gripping.
Brad Pitt's acting is excellent and Jonah Hill provides very good support. Good to see him do something other than crass comedies.
Overall a movie everyone will enjoy
