The Adventures of Tintin (2011)

Rating : 7/10

Director : Steven Spielberg

Cast : Tintin - Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot - Billy Elliot), Captain Haddock - Andy Serkis (LOTR - Gollum), Rackham  / Sakharine - Daniel Craig (Casino Royale - James Bond)

Story : Having purchased a model ship of the Unicorn our favorite reporter Tintin gets more than he bargained for. Inside the ship is a clue for the treasure of the Unicorn which puts his life in danger from Sakharine, a descendant of the pirate Red Rackham. But as always not the one to back away from danger Tintin sets off on a journey to find the treasure befriending the foul mouthed, always drunk Captain Haddock on the way.

Review: First of all the animation is just amazing. Wonderfully life like characters, sets, action pieces. The voice overs are decent. The makers have managed to weave three different stories very nicely into one convincing tale.

However for all the CGI effects the movie lacks the soul which made the comic books so popular. You never really feel for the characters or get carried away in the adventure. This is something which i believe the fans of the comic book will miss and dislike.

Overall worth a watch for the animation but the comics are better.
