Shaitan (2011)

Rating : 6/10

Director : Bejoy Nambiar (Debut Film)

Cast: Kalki Koechlin (Dev D), Rajeev Khandelwal (Aamir)

Story : Kalki and her group of friends go through life as if it is one big party and they don't have to care about the consequences. But each one also has their own inner demons to deal with. However one incident changes their lives forever and their world starts to collapse releasing the shaitan in them. While they try to cover their tracks and make up for their mistakes they are chased by Rajeev Khandelwal - a cop facing his own personal and professional problems because of his overly aggressive behavior

Review : The good things about Shaitan is that its a very different and a very stylish movie. Director Bejoy Nambiar showcases a lot of skill and talent for a debut venture. Some of the scenes have been very innovatively which makes you sit up and notice the movie.

However while the film scores very high on the style department the substance part lets it down. The story is decent and the acting sincere you somehow don't feel anything for the main characters. Neither do you root for them nor do you want them fail. This indifference doesn't let you enjoy the movie throughout.

Overall for people who are tired of watching run-of-the mill movies coming out in Hindi mainstream cinema this will be something different but towards the end you might find yourself wishing for the movie to get over quickly.
